Objectives: promoting research on the history of archaeology (including archaeological preservation), (b) analysis, cataloguing and assistance in the preservation of major archaeological archives housing the heritage of the discipline, (c) studying relations between the development of archaeology and formation of cultural and political identity. Larger ventures under the project include numerous publications, an international congress, website, Internet databases and creation of long-term research structures dedicated to the history of archaeology and its relations with politics
